Hi guys,
how’s your midsem break haha? I guess you all would enjoy it so much after
three days of WAR in Rumah Nuri :p I’m just joking kayy..For us, it wasn’t a
war but a memorable and unforgettable experience.
Actually it
was the second time that I had been visited orphanage. It was much easier for
the first time because there were only 15 children staying at the orphanage yet
we just had to be there for around few hours. Compare to this visit, the first
one was really senang kacang je. ><
DAY 1
Remember
when we arrived Rumah Nuri, the children were so curious about us. They weren’t
as excited as we expected as they were just busy playing with the kittens (I’m
really scared of kitten) and running around the field. It was really hard to
get their attention. After so long we got to gather them in groups and we had
ice breaking session. They were shy to introduce themselves tho hahaha CUTE! The
progress and the flow on first day wasn’t that good even though we’ve tried to control
them when we wanted to do some activities. The main activity of first day was
gotong-royong. It’s very challenging ( I don’t want to tell the reason haha ).
Every each of us really tried our best to help them clean the house so that
they will have a better environment to live. Special thanks for those who
helped to do cleaning job in the house as I know that it really wasn’t easy. I
guess everyone disliked the first day activity as the main activity was only
gotong-royong and it’s really boring for all of us including Dr Arpah and the
children. I would like to apologize for unable to make the first day successful
since it’s really not impressed enough.
DAY 2
After the
post mortem on the first day night, we all knew what to do on the second day.
Every facilitator really had to be stern with the kids. It’s like finally we
managed to draw their attention and control them phewww.. As a fasi bantuan of
group 1, I’ve tried to get closer to them. In the morning, we had Zumba session which led by Shazrul. Every kid was trying their best to follow every step. Shazrul is a very talented dancer hahaha. The most impressed one was Syahnur,
an active and positive girl. She involved in almost every activity and tried to
be a big sister in the group. I was there with them throughout the activities,
observing how they solved the problems especially the games of building pyramid
without using hands. I like the mandarin class session because I loved to teach
them how to pronounce in mandarin haha.. They managed to remember all the meanings and pronunciation very fast. I realised that kids nowadays are all talented and also the fact that I'm getting old. They’re really cute :p The second day
was ended with their performance, Dikir Barat. I was really amazed by them because they managed to memorize the lyrics and those body movement.(they are still small right?) The lyrics was so
touching where they described their daily routine in a song. “Kami berjalan
kaki ke sekolah…” was playing around my mind. Range of emotion – sad, touching,
sympathy and admire and more. They managed to take care of themselves and be so
independent enough without parents’ companion. I was so guilty at that moment
because until this age I am still rebellious by arguing with my parents. Also, I’m
not able to be with them 24/7 since I have to study in kl. But I really
appreciate what they have been doing for me in these 21 years. Time passed so
fast on the second day and it was filled with fun indeed.
DAY 3
Coming to the
third day, I was so sad when I was informed that most of the kids would be out
for another program T.T The house became so quiet without the kids. Fortunately,
we managed to carry out two activities with them which was English class and
origami session and now they already know how to fold a butterfly and frog!
This is the amazing work from group 1!
I could
feel the sadness when it has come to the closing ceremony. Unfortunately it
rained when we were about to start the closing ceremony. We had no choice by
having our closing ceremony in the house but not outside the tent. Was so happy
because few more hours I can go home and start my holiday but at the same time
it reminded me that it would be the last few hours to spend my time with them. L Alright forget about this. I was so
surprised when Dr Arpah and MTs have bought three birthday cakes for Feb, Mar
and April babies and I’m so lucky to be born in Feb haha. Thank you so much
guys it’s never too late to celebrate my birthday in the end of March haha :p But
the kids wh went for another program were not happy about that when they knew
that they didn’t manage to join the celebration with us. So sad T.T Not
forgetting the performance with the kids, it was awesome! I saw the smiles on
VIP’s face and let’s try to imagine that how cute were the kids when they
danced TUJUAN and did cheers on stage haha.
It’s time
to say goodbye. Sad scene T.T Everyone was not willing to leave. Syahnur would
be my hardest goodbye. She was crying when she knew that I have to leave. I’ll
miss every kid over there especially little Nina and Syahnur L At the moment I wish that time
could turn back to the first day we meet so that I can appreciate every moment
being with them. T.T
Lastly, I
would like to express my gratitude to Dr Arpah and my lovely coursemate.
Without you, this project would not be so successful. Dr Arpah, you have our
respect and gratefulness. Rehana, I really admire your dedication and passion
to the project. Ruben, thanks for guiding P&P throughout the event. My
lovely coursemate, thanks for helping me out throughout the event and giving me
such unforgettable memories. I'm really grateful to be a fast bantuan of group 1 and special thanks to shazrul who led group 1 throughout the 3 days. Thanks for motivating and advising them. I'm sure that the kiddos really like you so much and also, I'm so glad to work with you. I have much more to say but I have to pen off. Let’s
work together in the next three years and create more and more memories!
