Preparation Phase: WEEK 6 _ It’s just around the corner!

[11 March 2018 – 17 March 2018]

‘Do nothing out of selfish ambition or vain conceit. Rather, in humility value others above yourselves, not looking to your own interests but each of you to the interests of the others.’ Philippians 2:3-4

This 6th academic week I was in absolute feverish state with quizzes, tests and assignments submission happening at once and had nearly worn me out.πŸ˜€

As mentioned last week we had decided not to sell cakes anymore from this week onwards. Instead, we sold keropok this week (88 packets in total). Nothing much from sponsorship bureau as we are now following up our requests made and finalizing the earnings from fund raising. Running lists / checklists, duties of every person in charge, materials needed and activities for the entire implementation phase had also been finalized. The programme tentative needed slight changes and the same goes to logistics bureau where the amount of meals needed to be cut down. Accommodations and transport had also been settled. We will be going to Pusat Jagaan NURI by the ISB van. While the multimedia & technical showed us the finalized programme banner.😐

Besides, the program & protocol bureau conducted facilitator training, session simulations, activities and modules briefing as well as the closing-ceremony rehearsal at SD 6, Bioinformatics Building on 15 March 2018 (Thursday). The whole 4-hour period was entertaining but due to time constraint we were quite rushed and hurried. Since I’ll be the facilitator for group 4 on the days of event, I make sure that I am well-prepared for all the modules so that I am be able then to guide and facilitate the children. Speaking of which, I look forward to sharing, educating and bonding with the children in Pusat Jagaan NURI.πŸ’—

I am glad to see he commitments of the whole committee members during the simulations and rehearsal as we share our burden in making this programme beneficial to the children.πŸ’ͺ

In such a limited period of time, we have still insufficient fund for the programme although the money collected from the previous donation drive and cake sale have been included in our revenue, as reported by the treasurer, Hui Yuan, in this week’s meeting. As such, we had a donation drive again on 16 March 2018 (Friday). This time we were divided into 4 groups to different places and manage to get a significant amount of money. The whole process was, however, quite tough and trying our patience as some of the citizens were reluctant to respond to us. Thank God that there were people who are willing to donate help, be it in a small or great amount.πŸ’•

Notwithstanding, none of the companies we approached accede to our sponsorship request except Sandwichbytes mostly because our sponsorship requests made were too close to the event while these companies need some time to consider and process the document, where it could be as short as 3 weeks’ time and could be as long as 1 to 2 months. While some of them rejected due to their sponsorship policies. A heartfelt apology to the team for our late requests.πŸ˜‘

In the face of the companies’ rejection to our sponsorship requests, I choose to commit all my concerns to God who is faithful and loving, knowing that He will bring us through these difficult times. I hope that our preparatory tasks can be in rapid progress towards completion. All the best, mates!😏
