Preparation Phase: WEEK 5 _ What if …?

[4 March 2018 – 10 March 2018]

‘No temptation [or testing] has overtaken you except what is common to mankind. And God is faithful; He will not let you be tempted [or tested] beyond what you can bear. But when you are tempted [or tested], He will also provide a way out so that you can endure it.’ 1 Corinthians 10:13

Hello, everyone!

Now it is already week 5, yet there are still many things undone. Pretty stressful for all of us in the midst of this phase! What if we cannot manage to raise enough fund? What if we are still unprepared for the event? What if … With lots of grave misgivings and concerns, I choose to keep them all in prayer on full assurance that God is going to bring me through.

In this week’s meeting, each bureau has more things to be presented and updates to be discussed as our programme is going to be commencing on 23 March 2018. The multimedia & technical bureau showed us the various banner designs and we were asked to choose the most suitable and attractive one. The most agreed banner, however, still needs a touch-up. Thanks, for their hard work! As for us from the sponsorship bureau, we are still waiting for the response from the companies we approached face-to-face or contacted via e-mail. We are still trying hard to contact as many companies as we can particularly those around KL and in Selangor state. And in this week, I sent out the sponsorship requests to 27 more companies in addition to the 10 companies contacted during holidays. We fervently hope that they will consider our request. While the programme & protocol bureau had also set forth the activities they planned for all modules on the days of event. Zhong Han, the assistant secretary, presented the job scopes for all positions throughout the event. Everyone was, therefore, assigned a specific position during the days of event and should be clear about the tasks. Intriguingly, I am the main facilitator for group 4 together with Arinah. Even though this was the first time I was appointed as kids’ facilitator, while at the same time, I am not good at dancing and singing, I'll try my best to reach out to the kids 😆😆. Dr Arpah requested that a facilitator training and session simulations to be carried out to ensure the smoothness and efficiency with which the activities we are going to run.

Still, there were many things to be learnt from this week’s meeting which was started a little disordered in perplexity and mystification. Thanks, Dr Arpah, for her unceasing guidance and advice.

As we are getting closer to the days of event, all bureaux make every effort to finish their tasks the sooner the better. Cake sale continued as usual and this week will be the last week selling cakes as we look ahead to approaching more companies for sponsorships which we think is much more profitable. I really am a bundle of nerves and thrilled at the oncoming programme implementation. Praise be to God that we still manage to make the mandatory early payments especially for pre-orders and necessary purchases despite of our partly insufficient financial status at the moment. I am really grateful to all my fellow teammates for their unwavering support and top-notch suggestions given in every meeting!
