D-Day 1,2 and 3

Finally the day of the event came upon us and it was nerve-wracking. My heart could not stop beating fast and my head could not stop thinking will this event be a success. The day before the event we made a few last preparations and those whom join were all exhausted. The day before that we did a dry run for the closing ceremony and although there are some improvisation need to be made but all is well with our slow planning.

We were all feeling the coldness that came along with the hours counting till the event and then the morning came. I was up late with a few of them because of the preparation so I woke up like a zombie. It was a slow morning as we were hectic with departure preparation making sure everything was brought in the correct amount to avoid unwanted accidents. We went there and some kids were already awake waiting for us, I was touched but for somehow the amount of children gathered was far from our target. What worries us was the amount of food was gonna waste. We started our program with a little speech by myself just giving a complementary word to those dedicated kids who joined us. Our gotong royong started and it finish earlier than expected so we devise another game to stall the wasted time. I agreed that the first day, we were not only wasting time but also disconnected from those children. I have asked feedbacks from our coordinator on how to fix this problem and we did a post-mortem that night. Everyone was exhausted that night but post-mortem is a must. I advice each and one of them and all of them took it with open heart although their mind were distraught.

The second day came and everything change 360 for the better. Everyone starts to get into their job and starts to communicate with each other and interact more with the children as more children join in we facilitators are becoming more energetic and willful. The second day was full of games and the childrens were truly enjoying the games. I was very proud of each facilitator as they were doing their job without any hesitation.Although some misunderstanding happens, we were all in a trance of tiredness and our sensitivity was rather high so we talked a little that night as a small reminder and everything was okay the next day. We also distributed hampers for the explorace and the kids were thrilled. We ended the second day with a Bang!!!

The last day and also the day of closing ceremony. That day was rather a kind of a sad day as it was the last aside of being nervous of wanting a great closing. So our coordinator actually planned a surprise party for the February, March and April baby for facilitator and the kids and those who knew about the surprise was very wary the whole day not to get exposed. At the end of the day, the surprise party was a huge success. Although some of the kids came late for the celebration, I hope all of them enjoyed it. The AJK that is in charge of decoration must be heart broken as their hard work was put off due to the rain. Luckily all of them are quick witted when we change to our back up plan to do it inside. The closing ceremony went well. When were about to depart from the NURI house, some of them cried and hugged me, I was sad and kept on holding in my tears but i let go because their sincerity has break my defense. We were all crying and hugging and it was beautiful. That night we did a post-mortem or more to a sharing session. Its purpose is to let go of the hard feeling we may have towards each other. A lot of tears were shed that night and i keep on holding in my tears that i went back to my house in tears rolling down my cheeks.
