“I can do all this through Him who gives me
strength.” — Philippians 4:13
“For with God nothing will be impossible.” — Luke 1:37
Welcome back, everyone, to get off to a flying
start in our second semester and so are the preparatory tasks for Social Engagement (SE), a university course aimed at fostering better relations
between students and the society.
I am Lee Jian Di from the Sponsorship
Bureau of the 2017/2018 University of Malaya (UM) Bioinformatics Social Engagement
Project Team. With a cluttered mind I attended the first meeting on February 5th as everything took
place simultaneously on this very first day of the new semester. Thank God, the
coordinator of this course for our programme, Dr. Arpah, is dedicated and
committed to help us through this course. She gave us a compendious description
of the course and set forth the crucial tasks to be completed for it throughout
the semester. 😄
Praise be to God, the meeting went quite
well though there were some amendments to our marketing proposal and paper work
of this project. The conflation of compactness and creativity in revising the marketing
proposal was truly a challenge to all of us. Apropos of the implementation of
the whole project from start to finish, several unanimous decisions had also been
reached during the meeting. 😊
This course initially sounds a bit stodgy
and tedious to me with piles of works to be done as well as the commitment of time
and energy. What’s more, blogging isn’t my forte. Nonetheless, I could
foresee that this course is able to make me aware of being empathize with the underprivileged
in our community. Indisputably, in the everyday scramble and rush, there seems
to be no time for us to have a heart-to-heart with our kith and kin, much less
taking the time to care for the needy, especially the destitute. Through the activities planned, we have many great opportunities to engage with the children in Pusat Jagaan Nur Insan, Setapak, KL. Most importantly,
the skills learnt from this course will assuredly stand us in good stead when it
comes to socializing and engaging with people from all walks of life. 😌
Ta ever so!
